In Textiles, we discover where natural textiles fibres come from and how they are grown and reared. We find out how sheep are sheared, and cotton fibres extracted. We also see how synthetic fibres are manufactured from oil and gas. Then we see how the fibres are spun and woven into the clothes we wear and the fabrics that decorate our homes.
There is a handy map, showing some of the places where the raw materials for textiles come from. Fact boxes contain snippets of relevant information, and there is a Textiles Fact File at the back of the book.
